The 2025-26 season is off to a strong start for Le Mans FC.
Returning to Ligue 2 after five seasons spent in the third division, the Sarthe-based club has announced the arrival of Brazilian fund OutField as a shareholder. A fund involving some of the biggest names in world sport.
Starting with Novak Djokovic, former world number one tennis player, and Felipe Massa, winner of 11 Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Kevin Magnussen, who spent 10 seasons in F1, is also among the investors.
“I am delighted to announce today the arrival of our new financial partners: OutField, the leading sports investment company in Latin America, and Georgios Frangulis, founder and CEO of OakBerry,” said Thierry Gomez, president and owner of Le Mans FC, in a statement.
“They are unique in that they are a Brazilian investment fund. You know how much I love the game… and who better than the Brazilian team to symbolise the beautiful game in the world of football? Another unique feature of this fund is its involvement with top athletes. Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen will all be part of the adventure.”
Specialising in the sports industry, OutField has extensive experience in the world of football, working with no fewer than 50 clubs and federations. Among them is Coritiba FC, the current leader of Brazil’s Serie B.
“We have been working in football for 10 years, in Brazil and internationally, and we invest directly in the sport. We have found Thierry and his team to be highly skilled managers with a long-term vision and a strong focus on sporting competitiveness, while maintaining financial viability”, explained Pedro Olivera, co-founder of OutField.
“We want to continue this work by providing more financial resources, greater technical capacity and experience tailored to the growing challenges of French, European and global football.”
But the financial aspect will not be the only crucial point of the project.
“We have built a solid foundation for the club. This new partnership gives us the means to grow responsibly. Our immediate priority is to invest in our infrastructure and create the conditions for a new DTN-approved training centre, with the aim of becoming a national benchmark in training again in the medium term”, is now aiming for Gomez.
Although no figures have been disclosed regarding OutField’s financial investment, Gomez will remain the majority shareholder of the Le Mans club.
