“There is a beginning and an end. I wanted to tell you myself that after so many years at the club, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” said LOSC striker Jonathan David in a video posted on his social networks on Wednesday.

The Canadian international (61 caps, 32 goals), who joined Les Dogues in the summer of 2020, will leave the north of France when his contract expires on 30th June. The end of a five-year adventure during which Lille’s No9 has played 231 games, scored 109 goals and provided 28 assists.

Sacred French champion and winner of the Supercup in 2021, the 25-year-old will bid farewell to his fans at the Decathlon Arena this Saturday as Lille take on Reims on the 34th and final day of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season. An opportunity for him to celebrate his departure with a victory and, possibly, by qualifying Lille for the next edition of the Champions League.

Heading For Italy For David?

Available to sign wherever he likes, LOSC’s third all-time top scorer could soon be heading for Italy. As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have already made a formal offer to the player and his representatives. Nevertheless, no agreement has yet been reached.

Even so, should the Neapolitan approach not be pursued, there is no doubt that the New York-born, who has been decisive on 37 occasions (25 goals, 12 assists) in 48 appearances in all competitions this season, should not be short of options this summer. La Liga, where he has dreamed of playing since childhood, could be a credible alternative for the future of his career.
