Joao Felix has joined Al Nassr from Chelsea. The influence of Cristiano Ronaldo and manager Jorge Jesus probably convinced Felix, as much as a €12m salary.

Is Joao Felix a genius or an eternal promise?

The player has always showed a great potential, very good dribble performance and technical skills. He also have ability to score goals at decisive moments. Although five clubs in six years doesn’t look good!

The first move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2018-19, Felix was priced at €127.2m, after that the market value of the player falls around 80% from the peak.

It was the fourth most expensive transfer in football. He had a turbulent time at Atletico Madrid under coach Diego Simeone. He was loaned to Barcelona, where he had a decent season but wasn’t acquired permanently.

Then Chelsea bought him, but he finished the season at AC Milan on another loan. He was very close to returning to Benfica, but negotiations fell through, and his friend Cristiano Ronaldo took him to Saudi Arabia.

What about his future?

The player’s greatest hope is to return to the national team and later to the world football spotlight. It may have been a lucrative financial venture, but many fans believe it ruined his career.

Joao Felix overtake Cristiano Ronaldo and becomes the fifth highest-earning footballer in transfer values.

The player is a money maker and has already made €236.7m in transfers since leaving Benfica for Atletico Madrid in 2019, until his recent move from Chelsea to Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr.
