The images of Achraf Hakimi lying on the ground and crying after Luis Diaz’s tackle from behind during the Champions League match between PSG and Bayern Munich have been seen around the football world. After being taken off due to injury a few minutes before half-time, the Moroccan was then seen leaving the Parc des Princes on crutches.
PSG revealed that Hakimi ‘has suffered a severe sprain to his left ankle’. According to several reports, the 26 year-old right-back could be out for between six and eight weeks. A hug blow for Parisian supporters, but also for their Moroccan counterparts, who are now keeping their fingers crossed for a quick return for their captain, less than two months before the kick-off of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (21 December – 18 January) organised on their home turf
Nuno Mendes, Ousmane Dembele also out with injuries
To make matters worse, Ousmane Dembele, who has sustained a left calf injury, and Nuno Mendes, suffering from a sprained left knee, will also be sidelined for the next few weeks.

Three major absences that add to that of Desire Doue, who picked up a right thigh injury against Lorient last week, with the exact length of his unavailability still to be determined. All of them will be unavailable for the upcoming international break, as well as for PSG’s next fixtures, starting with Sunday’s trip to Lyon.
