EFL Championship side Derby County announced the signing of USMNT striker Patrick Agyemang last night. The fee is reportedly in the range of £5.8m, wrote The Athletic. He is Derby County’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
Agyemang joins after a prolific first half of 2025, scoring eight goals in 18 appearances for MLS side Charlotte FC, before scoring two in five matches at the Gold Cup for the United States. He played the full 90 minutes in the team’s loss to Mexico in the final.
Agyemang is now one of four USA strikers playing in the Championship, alongside Josh Sargent of Norwich City, Haji Wright at Coventry City, and Damion Downs, who plays for Southampton.
“I always wanted to take that next step, to be in a position to better my career,” Agyemang said in his first Derby County interview. “Going into the Championship and being around such passionate fans and a good group of guys is something that I felt was needed.”
“On the field, I’m going to give everything I’ve got, I’m going to work hard, and I’m going to fight for opportunities, and when the goals come, I’m going to be celebrating,” he said.
