Lyon didn’t wait until the official opening of the winter transfer window to announce the signing of one of its most exciting recruits.
In search of a high-impact offensive reinforcement at the start of a second half of the season promised to be as intense as ambitious, the Rouge et Bleu announced that they had reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the loan of Brazilian forward Endrick for the remainder of the campaign. A coup welcomed by all observers and that appears to be mutually beneficial for all parties.
For Lyon, first of all, which have secured the services of a player who, despite his young age, already boasts an established track record; for Endrick, secondly, who had been relegated to the bench at Madrid and wanted to accumulate playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup; and finally for Real Madrid and Brazil, for whom the prospect of seeing their prodigy continue to develop appears ideal.
“When I heard that Lyon were interested, that this was my path in life, I watched how the team played. I spoke with Paulo Fonseca. Now I train with them, I talk with them, and I even joke around with them. I’m very happy to be part of this team,” explained the Brazilian during his presentation to the media.
Endrick set to make his debut for Lyon against Lille
And it was on the occasion of his first team training session, on the 29th December, that Endrick had the opportunity to write the first lines of a new chapter in his budding career.
Unavailable to face Monaco four days later (a 1-3 victory for Lyon), the Brazilian international with 14 caps, now eligible to play for Les Rouge et Bleu, is expected to make his debut with Lyon this Sunday.
“I don’t think Endrick will be able to play 90 minutes, but he’ll play for a few,” Paulo Fonseca announced two days before Lyon’s trip to Lille in the French Cup round of 32. “I can’t tell you whether he’ll start or not, but he should play. Physically, he’s in good shape and he’s taken part in all the training sessions.”
Having made just three appearances for Real Madrid since last August, Endrick hasn’t found the back of the net since April 2025, in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Real Sociedad.
