PSG‘s Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner. The 28-year-old forward beat Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and his Parisian teammate Achraf Hakimi to claim the award.

Dembele becomes the sixth French player to win the prestigious prize, three years after Karim Benzema’s coronation in 2022. Before them, Raymond Kopa (1958), Michel Platini (1983, 1984, 1985), Jean-Pierre Papin (1991) and Zinedine Zidane (1998) had also lifted the legendary golden sphere. Dembele also joins George Weah (1995) and Lionel Messi (2021, 2023) as the third Paris Saint-Germain player to be decorated.

The Vernon, Normandy native had an extraordinary 2024-25 season, winning the French league title, the French Cup, the Trophée des Champions, the European Super Cup and, most importantly, the Champions League.

A European triumph in which he played a key role, proving decisive in each of the last six matches that led PSG to lift the coveted trophy. Voted best player in the competition, he also received this honour on the national stage, where he was also decorated in Ligue 1, which he also topped as the league’s top scorer with 21 goals. In total, Dembele ended the 2024-25 season with 35 goals and 16 assists in all competitions.
