Racing Club de Strasbourg have agreed a contract extension with Ismael Doukoure until 2028.
Initially excluded from the professional squad for refusing to re-sign with the Alsatian club, the 22-year-old defender has finally reached an agreement on a three-year contract.
“I’m very happy that he’s extended his contract with the club. I think it’s the right decision for him. I was confident that we would find a solution together,” said his coach Liam Rosenior to the press on the eve of the Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Brondby IF.
“This isn’t just down to me. It was a collective decision, with several people influencing his decision, both in France and in London. He was offered a new contract that matched his potential. I would like to thank the decision-makers who enabled us to keep such a player, such as Emanuel Emegha. I am lucky to be at this club.”
A situation which is not dissimilar to that of last summer for the French Under-21 international, whose desire to leave VfL Wolfsburg was not supported by his management.
Absent from the Strasbourg squad that won 1-0 away to FC Metz on Sunday, Doukouré resumed training this Wednesday.
