The list of 30 nominees for the 2025 Ballon d’Or has been revealed. And one of them will be Rodri’s successor, winner of the award in 2024. Among the big favourites to win are Ousmane Dembele, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Dembele, who was crowned Ligue 1’s best player last May, has enjoyed the best season of his career. As the star player for Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain, the Frenchman has dazzled European pitches with his talent, capping off his achievements with two assists in the Champions League final against Inter Milan. In total, the 2018 World Cup winner managed to make a decisive contribution on 51 occasions (35 goals, 16 assists) in 53 appearances.

Yamal, 18, winner of the Kopa Trophy for the best player under 21 a year ago, was one of the key players in FC Barcelona‘s great season. With 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions, the Spanish forward played a key role in the Blaugranas’ conquest of the league title.

Raphinha, his teammate, was equally impressive. Joint top scorer (13) and top assist provider (8) in the 2024–25 Champions League, the Brazilian ended his incredible season with 34 goals and 25 assists in 57 matches.

With a record nine players on the list, PSG is the club with the most representatives in the race for the prestigious award.

The winner will be announced on 22 September, live from the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
