Olympique de Marseille confirmed the signing of Quinten Timber from Feyenoord. With six months left on his contract with the Rotterdam club, the Dutch midfielder has signed with the Olympians until 2030 for a fee of around €4.5 million. Various bonuses might also be added to this amount.

Timber, 24, twin brother of Arsenal player Jurrien, has played 24 games for Feyenoord this season. Signed from Utrecht in 2022, he has made 125 appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists for De Trots van Zuid.

Clash with coach accelerates his departure from Feyenoord

Captain of Feyenoord during Brian Priske’s tenure between June 2024 and February 2025, Timber lost his armband under Robin van Persie, who took over as manager nearly a year ago. Their relationship deteriorated over the months, eventually imploding following Feyenoord’s defeat to rivals Sparta Rotterdam (3-4) last weekend. Singled out by his manager for his lack of commitment in training, Timber responded after the match, saying that he felt he had not been protected by his manager.

This situation led to a ‘very constructive’ discussion between the men, but one that was inconsequential in terms of the young midfielder’s desire to leave.

“The timing of our collaboration wasn’t ideal. You never know how things will turn out. If we had worked together at another time, if we had met at another moment, it could have been a truly wonderful collaboration. The time was shorter, of course, but I still really enjoyed working with him, both on and off the pitch,” said van Persie before the Europa League match against Sturm Graz, adding that “the dispute is over”.
