OGC Nice have announced the departure of their coach Franck Haise, by mutual agreement.
Appointed at the helm of Les Aiglons in the summer of 2024, Haise managed 70 games on the bench of the Côte d’Azur club, recording a record of 25 wins, 14 draws, and 31 defeats. At the end of his first season in Nice, the former RC Lens manager guided the club to fourth place in Ligue 1, their best finish since the 2016-17 season (3rd)
A fine performance marred only by their results on the European stage, where Nice finished 35th in the Europa League group stage with just three points. Back in the competition this season, Les Aiglons are heading for a similar fate, having lost their first six games and sitting bottom of the table with two games to go.
This negative trend has been confirmed in the league, where Melvin Bard’s teammates are currently in 13th place and have now lost six games in a row. Recently, Haise, aware of the delicacy of the situation, offered his resignation to club president Fabrice Bocquet, before ultimately withdrawing it.
But the change in management earlier this December, marked by the return of Jean-Pierre Rivere and Maurice Cohen, has changed the situation. “In agreement with President Rivere and given the sporting situation, we have decided to terminate my contract as coach of OGC Nice, as well as those of my assistants Lilian Nalis and Johann Ramare,” said Franck Haise.
Claude Puel, who held the position between 2012 and 2016, is going to succeed him. The 64-year-old coach, who has previously worked at Southampton and Leicester City, last held a coaching position at Saint-Etienne before leaving in 2021.
