OGC Nice has announced Jean-Pierre Rivère’s decision to step down as President of the club.
“After 14 years at the helm of OGC Nice, Jean-Pierre Rivère has decided to step down as President of the club. This decision is fully respected by INEOS. This decision will take effect on 20 August 2025,” said a statement from the Nice club.
The announcement is a blow to the Aiglons, whom the 67-year-old joined in 2011 when they were languishing in the bottom half of Ligue 1. More than a decade later, Rivère is leaving the club on the back of a fourth-place finish in the league and a place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all those who have supported me over the years, it’s been an exceptional human adventure. The initial ambition was to position the club in the top half of the table and try to become a European club, and ultimately to find an investor capable of supporting OGC Nice in its development,” he recalled.
“Thanks to INEOS for their presence, their investment and their ongoing support.
“OGC Nice is now a solid, structured and ambitious club. I am delighted with the appointment of Fabrice Bocquet, who, along with Florian Maurice and Franck Haise, will be able to write some very fine pages for our club. I’m leaving with a great deal of confidence in the club’s future.”
Bocquet, who has been the club’s managing director since 2022, will now take over. The INEOS group, which has owned the club since 2019, has endorsed the decision and, after thanking Rivère for his years of service, reiterated its ‘absolute commitment’ to OGC Nice.
