Benfica has announced an agreement with Real Madrid for the sale of Alvaro Carreras.
The 22 year old left-back player played for Deportivo Coruna youth academy from 2012 to 2017. After that join Real Madrid for Under-15 and Under-17 teams. Later signed for Manchester United in 2020 and started at the Under-23 team, he was called to Man Utd’s first team for the finals games of 2021-22 season.
In 2022-23, Carreras was loaned to Preston North End FC in the Championship, where he made 42 appearances. He then temporarily moved to Granada in La Liga before joining Benfica for the second half of the season on loan. A loan turned into a transfer after the Portuguese club acquired him definitively from the Red Devils.
In 2024-25, Carreras made 52 appearances, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 5.268 minutes.
