PSG Show Why They’re Europe’s Best with 4-0 Demolition of Real Madrid
Ruthless, relentless, and hungry — just a few of the words you could use to describe Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain after a clinical, dominant performance under Luis Enrique.
Total Control from the Start
In a devastating first half, PSG were simply irresistible — both on and off the ball. From the opening whistle, they overwhelmed Real Madrid with pace, pressure, and precision.
The opener came in the 6th minute. Another defensive lapse by Madrid allowed Ousmane Dembele, crowned Ligue 1 best player in 2024-25, to get a shot off, which was parried by Courtois into the path of the alert Fabián Ruiz, who calmly tapped it in.
Fabián Ruiz: The Underrated Engine
The scoreline could have — and perhaps should have — been even heavier. Ruiz, often overlooked in discussions of Europe’s elite midfielders, was arguably the standout performer of the night.
His two goals didn’t fully capture his influence. From sharp passing to tireless forward runs, Ruiz embodied the ethos of this Paris Saint-Germain side: always on the front foot, always daring to do more.
His second goal in the 24th minute was a perfect example. After a blistering counter down the right, Hakimi delivered a pinpoint cross. Ruiz held off Raúl Asencio and slotted a left-footed finish into the bottom corner.
Dembele Shines Again
Ousmane Dembele, a frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or, turned in another brilliant all-around performance. His intelligent movement, relentless pressing, and attacking flair caused constant problems for Madrid’s back line.
His goal — PSG’s second — came from pressing high. He forced a mistake from Antonio Rüdiger, pounced on the loose ball, and buried the one-on-one chance with clinical precision.
Ramos Seals the Rout
By the time Gonçalo Ramos came off the bench to score PSG’s fourth, the match was long over. Ramos took his chance well, further underlining the squad’s depth and Enrique’s tactical flexibility.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, looked out of ideas — their body language spoke of a team well and truly beaten.
Eyes on another trophy
Up next for Luis Enrique and PSG: a final showdown with Chelsea at MetLife Stadium this Sunday. After a performance like this, they’ll enter the match as clear favorites — and with the kind of momentum that’s hard to stop.
