Marseille star Mason Greenwood has dismissed transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the south of France by claiming he is fully settled with his family.

Reports emerged this week that the former Manchester United winger might be considering a return to England because he is far from his immediate family.

On Friday, Greenwood confirmed that he feels at home in Marseille and he is look forward to making his UEFA Champions League debut in Roberto De Zerbi’s team next season.

When asked by Sports Talk United if he feels far away from home, the 23-year-old said: “I feel at home, I’ve got my baby here [in Marseille] with my girlfriend so it’s a very special place for me, I feel at home.

“Not many people have the opportunity to experience it, to come to Marseille, to share this experience. I think it was a very good season, it’s true, but once again, it’s thanks to my teammates, thanks to the staff, thanks to the coach.

“It’s nice when the coach thinks highly of you. I came here for him.”

Asked Mason Greenwood if he feels far away from home in Marseille after playing in every Ligue 1 game this season.

Greenwood has been in imperious form for Marseille this season and he is the club’s leading top scorer with 19 goals in 31 Ligue 1 matches.

He is levelled with Bafetimbi Gomis as the highest-scoring player in his debut season in Marseille.

Greenwood confirms Jamaica switch

Greenwood rarely talks to the media, but on Friday, he confirmed that he has held talks with the Jamaica Football Federation to switch his nationality from England but no decision has been made yet.

Although he was born in Bradford, the former Getafe star is of Jamaican descent and still eligible to play for the Carribbean country despite making just a competitive appearance for England.

When asked about playing for Jamaica, Greenwood said: “Yes, we’ve discussed it, but I haven’t made any decision yet.”

It seems his papers won’t be cleared in time by FIFA before Jamaica join Nigeria, Ghana and Trinidad & Tobago for the four-nation Unity Cup scheduled to take place in Brentford’s Gtech Stadium later this month.
